Lula Lounge is the place to be on Friday nights. Word/Jazz Fridays begins with live music from 7:30-8:30 followed by a salsa lesson and finally dancing to a 10 piece salsa band! And if you arrive before 8PM, there is no cover!
I’ll be at Lula Lounge on March 23 with Chris Gale on sax and George Koller on bass. If you make a dinner reservation, you’ll have guaranteed seating. Doors open at 6:30.

I’ll be playing at the fabulous Bloom Restaurant on Feb 22 with the incomparable Bill McBirnie on flute and bassist extraordinaire George Koller. This will be a very special intimate dinner concert and the food is great! Bloom has a quiet policy, so there are no walk-ins. This Mother’s Day, May 14 make it Mom’s Night Out at the Jazz Bistro! I can’t wait to perform with George Koller and Mark Kelso. The piano, sound, food and ambiance at the Jazz Bistro are second to none, and I am thrilled to be performing new and old favourites from my jazz repertoire with these tremendous musicians. Please join us for a night of fun, frivolity, beauty, elegance and a few surprises. 

I am so grateful to Mervon Mehta and the Royal Conservatory for featuring my quartet at the beautiful Mazzoleni Concert Hall. Our sold crowd was wonderfully enthusiastic. George Koller, Nick Fraser, Bill McBirnie and I had a tremendous time!

I just spent three glorious weeks at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity as a Musician in Residence. I practiced and practiced, composed, performed, collaborated with wonderful musicians and was inspired by artists of multiple disciplines. I climbed mountains, took gondola rides, strolled around Lake Louise, ate too much, drank delicious tea and said hello to deer. Thank you to the Banff Centre for awarding me with the Elmer and Hilda Hildebrand Artist Award. I’m truly grateful.

I’m beyond thrilled to be part of the 2016/17 concert season at the Royal Conservatory of Music. My concert on March 5 is part of a series of free Sunday afternoon “interludes” occurring in the beautiful Mazzoleni Concert Hall in the Royal Conservatory. Tickets can be obtained here starting one month before the concert on February 6. Don’t worry. I’ll remind you.

I’m so looking forward to returning to the Home Smith Jazz Bar with two of my favorite musicians: bassist Ross MacIntyre and drummer Mark Kelso.

It’s been a while since I’ve played a jazz gig in Toronto and I can’t wait to introduce some new tunes and revisit my repertoire. It’s always to refreshing to come back to tunes I haven’t played in a while. I let the tune gnomes play in my imagination and what emerges always surprises me.

On Sunday, April 10 I’ll be performing my score to “The Mark of Zorro” for the Toronto Silent Film Festival at the Fox Theatre. I have chosen to incorporate some wonderful Spanish music as my basis for improvisation: bullfight music, habaneras, Spanish folk songs and flamenco. It’s been a joy to work on this film and to see Douglas Fairbanks in action as the original caped crusader! Zorro rides again!
